Jr. Naturalist Camp
This camp series is for kids ages 7-12. Campers will work with our park naturalist on various activities including: hands-on science discovery, journaling, and art. This will encourage children to have fun while learning about the natural world. Campers will explore the Nature Center Animals, Pock Woods, explore the pond while they swim and kayak and so much more! At the end of the week, campers will receive a Jr. Naturalist certificate.

Camp Location: Pecar Park (5203 E. CR. 150 N. Avon)
Dates: June 6-July 22
Hours: 9:00am - 3:00pm (M-F)
Weekly Rate: $150.00
Spots available for EACH week: 20
Registration is open until 4pm on Friday for the following week of camp. 
Jr. Naturalist Camp: June 6-10
Topic: Birds
Learn about the fascinating world of birds by joining our nature camp! The naturalist will be teaching fun facts about our feathered friends everyday including bird identification, binocular basics, bird migration, bird anatomy, hiking, meeting our chickens, and much more!
 
Jr. Naturalist Camp: June 13-17
Topic: Insects
Learn about the fascinating world of insects by joining our nature camp! The naturalist will be teaching fun facts about our six-legged friends everyday including insect groups, anatomy, meeting our insects from the bug lab, insect care, hiking, and much more!
 
Jr. Naturalist Camp: June 20-24
Topic: Reptiles & Amphibians
Learn about the fascinating world of herpetology (reptiles & amphibians) by joining our nature camp! The naturalist will be teaching fun facts about our cold-blooded friends everyday including learning about Indiana’s reptiles & amphibians, anatomy, hiking, meeting our scaly friends, and much more!

Jr. Naturalist Camp: June 27th-July 1
Topic: Fish & Pond Life
Learn about the fascinating world of fish and the incredible creatures that lives in Indiana’s waterways by joining our nature camp! The naturalist will be teaching fun facts about our scaly friends everyday including fish anatomy, the ancient practice of fish printing, meeting our freshwater fish, fishing basics, pond & creek exploration, and much more!
 
Jr. Naturalist Camp: July 11-15
Topic: Be a Naturalist Week
Ever wondered what it is like to be a naturalist? Join us for our nature camp and learn about the responsibilities, field work, and much more by shadowing our park naturalist. We’ll be learning about Indiana’s habitats, field study, wildlife conservation, natural history of Indiana, and much more! Every child will have an opportunity to present their animal of interest to the class.

Jr. Naturalist Camp: July 18-22

Topic: Young Pioneer Week
Learn about the fascinating world of pioneer living and their incredible adventures by joining our nature camp! The park naturalist will be teaching fun facts about pioneer cooking, readings from Little House on the Prairie, wilderness survival, candle making, sewing, and much more! We’ll be hosting our camps at our newest addition of the Pecar Park called Pock Woods where we’ll be having our programs at Pock’s Cabin.
