Washington Township Park has four (4) covered outdoor picnic facilities and one gazebo which are available for use in the Park. Reservations can be made (and are recommended) on a first come, first serve basis up to 12 months in advance of your reservation date. Reservations are based on all-day rentals according to the following seasons:
  • April-September rentals may occupy the shelter from 8am-9pm; shelter must be cleaned and all individuals must vacate the by 9pm.
  • October-March rentals may occupy the shelter from 8am-7pm; shelter must be cleaned and all individuals must vacate the by 7pm.
All picnic shelters include the following amenities:
  • Picnic Tables
  • Charcoal Grill
  • Electrical Outlets
  • Trash Receptacles

Upper Park

CHICKADEE SHELTER
The Chickadee Shelter is located next to the Playground in the Upper Park. It is close to our restroom facilities and has beautiful view of the pond. There is a large green space available in close proximity. The shelter is also the base site for our Avon Kids' Camp.

EAGLE SHELTER
The Eagle Shelter is located across from the basketball court in the upper park. There is a large hill and a fire pit that can be used with written permission from the Park Director. This shelter provides a scenic view of our vast landscape.

GAZEBO
The Gazebo is located in the upper park between the pond and the large playground.  The Gazebo accommodates up to 30 people, has an electrical outlet and trash receptacle.
Amenities
​Washington Township Park spans 160 acres of managed property which encompasses a vast array of recreation opportunities! We have something to fulfill almost all of your recreational needs. Whether you may be looking to strike up a volleyball match, impress your friends with your sweet court skills or just come to enjoy a picnic with your family this park has what your looking for.

The Upper Park provides the following amenities to its community:
  • 2 covered picnic facilities
  • A 24 foot Gazebo
  • 5 miles of hiking trails
  • Restroom Facilities (always one open year round)
  • A "Learning Trail"
  • Playgrounds for a variety of age groups
  • The only sand volleyball court in Hendricks County
  • Basketball court
  • One 1/2 acre DNR stocked fishing pond
  • Green space available for leisure and recreation purposes
  • A StoryWalk at the upper park sponsored by Avon-Washington Township Public Library

Lower Park

BLUE JAY SHELTER
The Blue Jay Shelter is located in the lower park and connected to the Cardinal Shelter. The Blue Jay is located in front of the playground. Please note that the Splash Pad is not included in your rental but, you are welcome to use it during your rental.
